Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common queries I have received, along with my responses. You can skip to a section using the buttons on the right, and send me a message if you can’t find what you’re looking for.

Wedding Photography FAQs

  • I strongly believe in all-day coverage, allowing me to tell the story of your special day from start to end; from the bride and grooms preparations to walking down the aisle, from your guests arriving to joining you on the dance floor, from the first speech to the final toast, it would be a shame to miss a single moment! However, I understand this amount of coverage is not always desired so I will tailor my coverage and price according to your requirements as well as arrange a meeting (in person or virtual) for us to go over these requirements ahead of time.

  • Yes!

I love getting to know couples before their wedding day, and an engagement shoot is the perfect way to do so - check out some examples, here. These shoots are relaxed, just like my wedding photography style, so can be a great way to help you feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera before your big day. They can last around about an hour, and can be done wherever you fancy - ideally somewhere with a nice sunset, or somewhere that is special to you both.

  • It depends.

For weddings with greater coverage requirements having a second photographer is recommended. It allows us to be in two places at once, for example, one at the bridal preparations while the other is with the groom in the morning; it also allows us to capture two perspectives of the same moment, for example, the first glance at the bride as she walks down the aisle from the groom’s point of view, as well as from the bride’s point of view. If you think your wedding would suit an additional photographer then just let me know and I can have it arranged, with an additional charge.

  • The day after your wedding you’ll receive a sneak peek gallery, containing around 20 awesome photos from the day so that you’ve got some nice photos to share with your friends and family. These always make for a great Facebook or Instagram post.

Around 6 weeks after the wedding, you’ll receive the full gallery of images.

  • By default, you’ll receive your sneak peek gallery and full images gallery via a private online gallery. From here you can view, favourite, download and share your photos. These are all full-resolution and print-ready.

If you want to receive your digital files on a USB stick too, then just say the word and I’ll organise that for you too, with a small extra charge.

I love creating albums for my couples. In my opinion, this is the best way to enjoy looking back at your wedding day. If you’re interested, check out my Prints page.

  • This largely depends on how much coverage you require and whether you opt for a second shooter. During a typical full wedding day (bridal preparations through to the late evening), with just myself as the photographer, you would receive approximately 800 images. I don’t limit the number of photos I take or deliver - you’ll get everything that makes it through the editing process.

  • I like to pack light for a wedding, seeing as I will be carrying it around for around 12 hours. I shoot with two camera bodies and various lenses suitable for all aspects of the day.

I don’t use flash during the day, this just slows things down and is distracting to everyone. I might pop up a couple of light stands in the evening on the dance floor for some epic dad-dancing shots.

  • Whilst I am comfortable capturing a video for your wedding, I wouldn’t be able to offer myself to single-handedly capture both photos and video, it would require a second photographer or videographer to capture the other medium to ensure that all key moments of your wedding are documented well, instead of compromising one for the other. If you’d like to have video captured at your wedding too then just let me know and I can have it arranged, with an additional charge.

  • Yes.

I have Public Liability insurance as well as Professional Indemnity insurance. My equipment in insured too, but please don’t hurt it.

Family Photography FAQs

  • A family photoshoot with me typically lasts around 2 hours; this gives us enough time to visit a few spots around your chosen location with stops for any necessary temper tantrums and a bit of a chin wag as well. I don’t clock watch while photographing; I’ll continue to capture you and your family until I have enough to tell a great story of our outing or until the kids run out of steam.

  • I’m an animal lover, so I’m absolutely fine with photographing around pets. You’re welcome to bring your dog along on an outdoor family shoot if the location is suitable and you can keep it under control; pets can add a unique element to family photos, but we don’t want your pup running riot and spoiling the shoot!

  • I love to shoot in the soft light of the morning or evening, but I can be flexible and work around your availability or your little one’s sleep schedule.

  • I do my best to avoid static poses and get the family interacting with each other as you usually would; cuddles, tickles, running and exploring! This will allow me to capture authentic and natural expressions of your family having genuine fun together, focusing on each other and not on the camera.

  • I work best with natural light, so love to shoot outdoors, but I’m just as happy photographing in the comfort of your own home if that’s more what you had in mind.

I have loads of tried and tested outdoor photoshoot locations around Cambridgeshire and beyond, but I’m always keen to explore new locations and shoot in places that are meaningful to you.

  • From a 2-hour family session, I would typically produce around 200 images, quite often even more! I’ll edit all the best photos and deliver them via a private online gallery. Prints and USB delivery can be arranged at an additional cost.

  • Wear clothes that you can be comfortable and relaxed in. don’t feel like you need to dress up too fancy, and do consider the weather. I want to capture timeless photos of your family, so I suggest avoiding heavily logoed or patterned garments. I have no preference for colour, but it always looks great if you can find a look that works for the whole family.

Couples Photography FAQs

  • if we’re just meeting for a photoshoot, then it might take 1-2 hours, depending on how much talking we do, how far we’re walking, and how much fun we’re having!

If we’re meeting and tieing it in with a pre-wedding consultation, then the whole meeting might take around 2-3 hours.

  • YES!

I love photographing with pets too, especially dogs. They often help you to relax and act as a distraction, so I can get some lovely candid photos.

  • Golden hour!

This is just before sunset. The combination of the vivid golden light, mixed with deep shadows and a dramatic skyline makes for the ideal time of day for some romantic photos. This will obviously vary throughout the year as the time of sunset changes.

  • That’s where I come in!

Your job is to be you. That simply means walking, talking, breathing; you know, the stuff you do all the time. My job is to make you look happy with my stupid jokes, make you look awesome with my fancy camera, and make you relaxed with my natural and candid prompts.

  • Wherever you like!

We can go for a stroll in the woods for some privacy; we can go for a jaunt around town for some street-photography style photos; we can go for a frolic on the beach if you really want to. We can go literally wherever you like and where you feel most comfortable or have a connection to.

  • A 1-2 hour couples photoshoot will usually yield around 150 photos.

  • Whatever you like!

Want to look fancy? wear something smart.
Want to look relaxed? Wear jeans and a t-shirt.
Want to look awesome? Wear whatever makes you look awesome!

My only recommendation is to avoid wearing heavily logoed garments, as these don’t tend to age well.

Other FAQs

  • After a photo shoot, I will dedicate just as much time, if not more, to processing the files from your shoot. This involves me using specialist photo editing software to bring to life the vibrant colours and details in the image. Sometimes I will retouch images where there are noticeable imperfections, blemishes or distractions that are holding the image back.

I have a true-to-life colour palette with a bit of pop for good measure. Whilst the dramatic and stylised trends of the month can look impressive right now, you’ll likely find that when you look back at them in 5 years time, you wont have the same affection for them if they’re too stylised.

I’ll include black & white duplicates o my favourite images too. Find out why I love Black & White photos so much in my blog.

  • All images are delivered via a private online gallery and are included in the price of the shoot; USB delivery and printing options are available at an additional cost. From the online gallery, you’ll be able to download your images in high-resolution to your personal devices and share them however you wish. I’ll keep your online gallery active and accessible for at least 1 year from the date of delivery.

  • I do not provide the raw images for clients; the .RAW files are straight out of camera and do not represent my photography just yet. It requires professional software and experience to edit these files to be viewable on your devices and ready for printing. if you’re unhappy with the appearance of an image, I am more than happy to personally revisit it in my editing software.

  • Please, I’d love to!

Sharing examples of my work is one of the best ways for me to promote my business and continue to get bookings. If you prefer me not to showcase any or specific photos from your shoot, then please just make that clear in a text or email.

  • Unfortunately, I cannot offer a refund for a photoshoot once the images have been delivered. I am willing to revisit them in editing if you are unhappy with the look of the image; however, I’m sure that won’t be the case, and you’ll be delighted with what I produce for you!
