2023 Wedding Photography Round-Up

2023 has been a truly amazing year. I’ve loved getting to know all the couples that I’ve had the privilege of working with. Looking back through all my photos from the past 12 months has brought back so many wonderful memories so I wanted to share some of my favourite photos with you and reflect on some of the best wedding moments of 2023.

Cameron’s dance moves. I was warned, but I wasn’t ready…

Throughout their wedding day, many of Molly and Cameron’s guests had mentioned warned me about Cam’s dance moves. They hadn’t been very descriptive about what I was in for, I suppose because there were few words able to describe what they had previously witnessed. All I can say is that I’m not sure what I saw, but I completely loved it. Mind = blown!

Zoe’s Vows in Greek

With the tradition of making vows to one another becoming less common in recent weddings, Zoe surprised everyone in Trinity College Chapel when she spoke her vows to Ilias in Greek. It was a heartwarming sentiment that I will never forget.

Georgie’s Polaroid Reaction

As you continue to scroll, you’ll see that there are a few more memory highlights from Dan & Sammy’s awesome wedding, however, one that really pulled on my heartstrings was seeing Georgie's reaction when Sammy showed her some of my sneak-peek printed photos and she completely balled her eyes out. Spoiler alert to my future couples: but something that I’ve been loving this year is printing out a handful of Polaroid-style prints while the bride & groom tuck into their wedding breakfast. The reactions are always so rewarding, but this one almost had me welling up too!

The Photobombing Cow

Doing our best to avoid the bustling streets around The Graduate Hotel in Cambridge, Kathryn, Paul and I were caught off-guard by this photobombing cow; it made for some awesome photos though!

Paige & Miki’s Hollywood Exit

Paige and Miki’s entire day was like a movie. Everything was stunning, from the black tie outfits to the classic Ferrari. Their exit from Marylebone Town Hall was absolutely spectacular with more confetti than I have ever seen, and it looks so good in black & white; a truly timeless sequence of images.

Panny & Rob’s Rescheduled, Rescheduled, Rescheduled Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

No, that’s not a typo. Thanks to this summer’s unpredictable weather it really did take us 3 reschedulings to finally find a dry day for some pre-wedding photos, but boy was it worth the wait! I was apprehensive at first, as I drove down the motorway with mist obscuring my view - a landscape photographer’s dream, but a portrait photographer’s nightmare. However, as the morning light came in and burnt away the mist, we were gifted a stunning autumn morning in Rowney Warren woods, resulting in some of my favourite couples photos ever, proving that all it takes is a simple dog walk to capture some truly special moments that are genuine to you.

Sammy Headlining Her Own Wedding

This was definitely one of those “pinch me I’m dreaming, I get to photograph this as my job?!” moments. Sammy and her band, made up of Dan’s three Groomsmen, rocked Fulbourn Lodge with a short set at the end of their wedding reception. Not only were they awesome, but Dan and his work colleagues had also gone above and beyond to build the most insane AV setup for a wedding; it honestly felt more like a gig than a wedding, it was bloody awesome!

Jonathan & Andrew’s Hilarious and Emotional Wedding Ceremony

It was a challenge to maintain composure during John and Andrews's wedding at The Old Bridge Hotel.; I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during a wedding ceremony. It was all thanks to a combination of heckles from their guests, cheeky quips from Andrew and a few funny slip-ups from the registrar which left everyone in hysterics. If you weren’t crying with laughter, they were crying tears of joy, as the whole day was charged with positive vibes, full of great jokes and abundant with love.

Georgia & Aaron’s Glasses

These heart-shaped glasses have been going viral on Instagram & TikTok this year and I was happy to see them doing the rounds at Georgia & Aarons wedding. Whilst I respect the traditions of weddings, I also think they should be fun and changing with the times, so little things like these that add that extra something to your wedding reception are a great idea, and make for some really funny photos too.

Let Me Cook!

Many of you will know that I love to round off my day of photographing weddings with an evening portrait. I look for architecture or framing that create dramatic images, yet let the bride and groom remain the subject of the image. They’re always fun to work out as I never really know how the light is going to fall in the evening so I have to think on my toes. They also give me a moment of calm amongst the busy evening antics to thank the bride and groom for letting me be part of their special day. When I’m driving home, this is often the image that I’m most looking forward to looking at on my laptop first thing the next day.

So many more wonderful memories!

2024 is due to be even bigger than 2023 and I even have my own wedding slap bang in the middle of it all as well so to say that I’m excited for the year to come is a bit of an understatement! Thank you once again to all the lovely couples who chose me as their wedding photographer, I hope we get to see each other again sometime soon, and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer who is going to be as passionate about your wedding day as you are, as excited as you are and look back at it with as fond memories as you will, then why not get in touch and see if we’re a match?
